I work at the intersection of entrepreneurship, employability, and education system design.

My focus is simple: how do we ensure education leads to real-world outcomes?

For too long, universities and training systems have been judged mainly by participation, process, or prestige. What matters just as much is what happens next: whether learners gain the skills, confidence, networks, and opportunities that help them secure work, create ventures, and build meaningful careers. My work is centred on closing that gap.

Over the past two decades, I have worked across higher education, enterprise support, innovation, and strategic leadership. I have led large-scale employability and entrepreneurship systems, built award-winning enterprise programmes, supported business growth, and contributed to the development of education models that connect learning with economic value.

My work spans four connected areas.

Entrepreneurship

I am interested in how entrepreneurship can be embedded across education, not as a narrow subject, but as a way of thinking and acting. This includes opportunity recognition, value creation, innovation, venture development, and the practical capabilities people need to turn ideas into outcomes.

A central part of this work is the development of frameworks such as Entrepreneurial Capital, which explores the forms of capital individuals and institutions need to create sustainable success.

Employability

Employability is not just about job search skills. It is about helping people develop the knowledge, capabilities, behaviours, and experiences that make them effective in the labour market and beyond.

My work in this area includes employability strategy, curriculum integration, graduate outcomes, employer engagement, and systems that help institutions translate education into jobs, progression, and long-term career resilience.

Education Strategy and System Design

I work with institutions to strengthen the link between curriculum, student development, industry needs, and wider economic outcomes. This includes programme innovation, curriculum-to-market alignment, skills development, and the design of scalable systems that improve student outcomes.

I am particularly interested in how universities can act as engines of economic and social development, especially through entrepreneurship, innovation, and inclusive access to opportunity.

Global and Emerging Market Development

A growing part of my work focuses on how high-quality, relevant, and affordable education can support development in emerging economies. I believe education should not only transmit knowledge, but also expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and support healthier, more prosperous lives.

This interest informs my work in global partnerships, social impact, and projects that widen access to education.

What I Do

My work includes:

  • Writing and speaking on entrepreneurship, employability, and education innovation
  • Advising universities and organisations on strategy, systems, and growth
  • Supporting the design of employability and entrepreneurship frameworks
  • Contributing to curriculum, enterprise, and student success initiatives
  • Developing ideas and models that connect education with real-world economic outcomes

My Approach

I combine academic thinking with practical application.

That means I am less interested in theory for its own sake, and more interested in how ideas can be used to improve systems, shape institutions, and create better outcomes for individuals and communities.

My approach is:

  • practical
  • strategic
  • outcome-focused
  • globally minded
  • grounded in real institutional and economic challenges
